Had a good time working on my pool today! Was talking to my pool guy pretty much the whole time about pools and life in general. It’s been a crazy year, especially for him, but that’s a story for his blog. Today I took it upon myself to finally get back to working on the pool for the first time since 2018 started. Granted, I haven’t been in town until last week Sunday, the pool has easily been neglected for around 6 months. In it’s current state it is very green and will definitely be an uphill battle. Here’s what I did today in reverse chronological order.
Washed filter.
Added 1lb pool shock
Brushed bottom towards main drain.
Added half basket of stabilizer to skimmer.
Added 6 ounces of phosphate remover to deep end.
Brushed sides.
Added 1lb pool shock.
Found and replaced filter top’s retention band screw.
Walked through the pool bounce back process over the phone with Demetri.
Vented to Kylie about the pool and going back and forth between pinch-a-penny.
Called Pinch-a-Penny to see if they would come checkout the pool, nope, $125 visit.
Looked at pool lights, regular and rgb remote after ordering zwave system.
All-in-all it was a great day of conversation and productivity as the pool color has changed from dark green to light green with a tinge of aqua. Tomorrow I plan on repeating the process of brushing the sides, the bottom towards the main drain, and will ask my pool guy to advise me on further chemical treatment. After my meditation I will also look into test strips for the pool so I can have a better understanding of the pH, alkalinity, chlorine, calcium, and other aspects that work towards a clear and healthy pool!
